The rising popularity of the iPhone and iPod is a major consideration in the design of video eyewear, The Cinemizer Plus. The follow-up model to the hugely successful Cinemizer by optics manufacturer Carl Zeiss, provides users a big screen experience while viewing movies and even 3D videos using iPhones and video capable iPods. Cinemizer Plus viewers see the resulting video on a virtual 45-inch screen, as it would appear from six feet away.

The eyewear combines LCD screens with individual diopter focus adjustment enabling users to focus the screen for crystal clear viewing. The Cinemizer also hosts its own battery cells to prevent draining off the iPhone or iPod power supply, permitting longer viewing hours. Retailing at $449, the Cinemizer Plus will be available in stores end of May in the U.S. and a few European countries. It is the first such device to get the “Works with iPhone” approval in addition to the “Made for iPod” compliance.
