Filmed off the coast of Pohnpei in the South Pacific, a location well known by international surfers for some of the tallest waves in the world, this groundbreaking footage shows a huge ocean wave from beneath the surface. It reveals the unseen power of a four-meter-tall monster barrel wave and never-before-seen images of underwater spiraling vortices.
Captured in super slow motion twenty times slower than normal speed, using a high-definition camera costing $100,000, this film was shown as part of the BBC Natural History Unit’s new series South Pacific.
